WAXING FAQS

1. HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE IN ORDER TO GET WAXED?
Answer: It is recommended that the hair be about ¼ to ½ an inch in length or about the length of a grain of rice. For most people, that length is achieved by growing the hair out for 2-3 weeks.

Answer: Waxing is recommended every 3-4 weeks for best results. It’s all about training your hair to grow less frequently and you do that by putting yourself on a consistent waxing schedule.

Answer: Receiving a high-frequency treatment after waxing is beneficial in eliminating bacteria, preventing breakouts, and to help promote skin healing and product penetration.

Answer: Yes you most certainly can still get waxed during that time of the month. However, because you may experience more sensitivity due to the hormonal fluctuations during that time, it may be a less comfortable experience for you.

5. DOES WAXING REALLY HURT AS BAD AS EVERYONE SAYS?
Answer: Waxing removes the hair from the skin at the base of the hair follicle, so some discomfort will occur. However, I use only the best quality wax and products so that discomfort is significantly minimized. Most people leave saying, “that wasn’t nearly as bad!”

6. CAN I STILL GET WAXED IF I’M USING MEDICATIONS FROM THE DERMATOLOGIST?
Answer: If you are using medications for acne from the Dermatologist, the general rule of thumb is to not get waxed since your skin will already be really sensitive. However, if you are using a topical medication, you can discontinue the use of it a week prior and after your waxing appointment in order to avoid irritation. Unfortunately, if you are using Accutane, I cannot wax you without a note from your doctor.

BRAZILIAN AFTERCARE

Brazilian waxing is so easy that it would be crazy to have your waxing aftercare be anything but simple.

After the procedure is over, you may find that your skin is a little red and irritated thats okay. One waxing risks is infection which is easily avoided by sanitary conditions and NO Double DIPPING. UsuaIly irritation will go right away, a few hours or a day depending on your sensitivity. Avoid tight clothing your skin needs to breathe. That is an important part to waxing aftercare it allows the irritation to go away(no friction). Wear cotton underwear or no undies to your waxing appointment to make it as pain free as possible afterwards.

Another important part of aftercare is to moisturize and exfoliate. Daily moisturizing will prevent more irritation after a waxing (no dry skin) because the skin is softer no friction. Tea tree oil in grapeseed or coconut oil is great! Lightly exfoliate 3 days after with a brush or mitt and twice weekly.
After a waxing you will need to touch it up every 3-4 weeks to maintain smoothness. When choosing a professional make sure they are licensed technicians, now noone is perfect even we can miss a spot. DO NOT SHAVE OR TWEEZE THE AREA! Shaving only removes hair at surface making next waxing difficult and cause ingrowns . Tweezing can break the hair off causing ingrowns that can lead to infection. Wait until your next appointment for removal to keep your waxing at the same growth pattern.
